Northstar Backgammon was founded by three passionate players – Michael Cashman, Hugh Morris, and CJ Cashman – who believe backgammon is more than just a game. It is competition, conversation, strategy, and community all rolled into one.

For Michael and Hugh, the story began back in their college days, when backgammon quickly became more than a casual pastime. Their enthusiasm for the game was so strong that they even packed a board for a vacation in Jamaica just to keep the matches going. While trends came and went, Hugh’s love for backgammon never faded, and he continued playing long before the game’s recent resurgence in popularity.

Today, Northstar Backgammon exists to share that passion with others. Our mission is to create opportunities where players of every skill level can learn, compete, connect, and belong. Whether you are rolling the dice for the first time or have been playing for decades, there is a seat for you at the board.
